Default My Bad Beat Story Courtesy of Leeland

Earlier today I played 20/40 limit holdem with Leeland, now camped in Seat 1 of "Live at Bike". Normally don't tell beat stories but why not tonight

Anyway, I open raise UTG with AsJs. All fold to Leeland who calls in the BB. Flop comes J-T-9 rainbow with one spade. He bets, I raise, he reraises, I call. Turn comes 8 of rainbow (a Tommy Angelo expression). He bets, I call. River comes a brick. He bets, I call. He turns over 7-4 offsuit for a turned straight.

Would mike l. have put in more action from my position?

Rick

What a huge pot, and what a horrible call by Seat 4. Brutal.

I do expect a Martini (and Kabobs) from Rick and a comment about the food from Denny.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Bike makes great Persian kabobs but lousy martinis. I make great martinis and lousy Kabobs

Anyway, kabobs are on me and we can stick with the wine (we have some pretty decent choices) at the Bike

See you soon.

Yeah, I'm definitely learning a lot about hand strength watching this. Just because you have an over pr doesn't mean it's any good.

Good point. I've noticed many of the best players (especially those who are confident and skilled enough to play well when they are extremely deep) will straddle to encourage action for what amounts to a pittance. NL isn't so much a battle over the blinds, it is a battle to win as much money as possible. Throwing in an extra blind once per round doesn't really cost the straddler much relative to the money that can be won by a great player in a high action table.

That said, I don't do it much but then again I'm neither skilled enough or deep enough. Oh yeah, I'm also an anal retentive nit .
