He also came in second in a pretty big Bellagio event last week (it was a 1500 pot limit hold-em event I believe). He had a sizable chip lead at the final table and I was pretty surprised when he didn't win. I think the other players were trying to make a deal (I was a few tables away playing in the no limit event) but he didn't want the deal. At least that's what I heard.

I only know what I see on TV (and don't believe most of that) but Moneymaker got 2nd on a WPT main event about 6 months after winning the WSOP so I wouldn't say he was an absolute one time wonder.

FWIW,

Affleck had been playing at the $5K buy in NL at Commerrce quite often and my understandingis he had been doing well in it. I only got to see bits and pieces, while sweating a friend at the $600 buy in NL game, but I really would not have wanted to play in that $5K game, and Affleck's play is certainly part of the reason why.
