"he knows that hero wrote in Poker Essays III that a king flop is a great situation for a bluff"

Don't have the book in front of me, but wasn't it referring to an unraised pre-flop pot, reasoning that most players will either raise or fold pre-flop with a hand with a king in it?

Thanks, Mason, for taking the time to read through all the responses and for your replies. You can tell by the views and responses how much we all regard your analyses, and how much we miss your hands to talk about.

Hi Soildier:

You may want to relook at the chapter "Head-Up on the End" in The Theory of Poker.

Hi Soildier:

A turn three bet is clearly wrong in my opinion.

I agree, I was just pointing out that I thought Rory was way oversimplifying the situation. And that if all you had to do was 3bet the turn and people would start folding top pair, poker would be alot easier game to play.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to everyone.

The only hands you get value from here are middle pocket pairs. I think mid-pps should check- behind given the action. If you were on a busted flush draw you wouldn't call a river bet with something like Axhh unless you managed to pair your x (with the 8 most likely) so there is no reason villain here should bet his pair. There are just no worse hands you call with here.

However, if villain here 3bet you with AQhh or AJhh in this case he might fire one on the river. But I can't imagine what he's expecting you to fold if he does. Your hand played out like a busted draw of sorts and if your draw was busted there is no way his AQhh or AJhh is the worse of the two draws. If he is holding one of these, your hand looks like a middle pocket pair or a weak king and he should know you are almost definitely not folding those.

Finally, I don't think you have the worse hand here more than 10% of the time. I think even KQ raises the turn on your bet, given the fact that you didn't cap preflop (you would cap with AKo 6 handed right?) so the fact that he didn't raise the 3 makes it seem to me that he is just trying to get to showdown.

For all these reasons I think it's a bet. Of course, your check hinges on the fact that your opponent is aggressive. I think your opponent's bet on the end was horrible and you can't expect him to make that sort of bet (major mistake) with a showdownable hand every time.

hi flawless:

If my opponent will now value bet a weaker hand than mind my play can become correct even if he is not that likely to bluff.
