Default OOT is invaluable

I realize that what I'm gonna say will be totally misconstrued by some testosterone-fuelled guys around here as a call to more hooliganism, but what the hell.

The OOT stuff is excellent! I am not joking. You people are not paying attention, maybe. But threads like "Which hand you use to wipe" or "G/F wants to go skinny dipping with ex-B/F" (last one had a poll too!) are bona fide studies in anthropology.

[censored] pokerius. What a concept.

not many people defend women on this forum

[/ QUOTE ]

The women on this forum don't need defending they fend for themselves just fine. Several male posters here were quick to defend hookers when the ladies here attacked them however. Since I don't think we have any working ladies posting here to defend themselves that I know of. And if we do she is making so much she would surely tolerate an insult or two. This assumes that there are any femals posters here.... and I belive up until this point they have all been shown to be online-transgenders; males posting as females.

BigSteve felt harassed because he was gay. I believe he truly felt this and I believe he received more than his fair share of insults and jokes.

[/ QUOTE ]

FWIW, steve brought almost all of the gay jokes on himself.

He made us aware of his sexualality in every third post. I mean, if the topic were "What did you have for breakfast" he would say "Gay froot loops."

If I decalared my sexuality (staight) as often as he did, I'd be called a drama queen too (and rightfully so)

[/ QUOTE ]

Great post, CallMeIshmael, I was thinking the same thing.

BigSteve felt harassed because he was gay???

Where the hell do they get this bull [censored]??? I am a gay male living in Bible Belt America via Meridian, MS. I haven't left my home and ran for the hills so why do you think I would leave an webpage bacause I got harassed?

I agree. When I first started reading OOT in February I thought, wow, these people are amazing. They are capable of discussing any topic intelligently, humorously and regardless, making it interesting. These days all the conversations are just stupid metaconversations about the state of OOT and what to do with it.

wacki is now a mod in "Science, Math, and Philosophy" and I'm remaining a mod in the WPT forum (despite the efforts of Mr. Lepore).

[/ QUOTE ]

I would have given Politics to wacki if I was Mat. That forum needs a mod more than SMP does.

I think that there are threads that are far more likely to reflect poorly on Two Plus Two Publishing, LLC than some of the other posts and threads that have been drawn into question the past few days.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is a difference between voicing controversial opinions and being innapropriate. I personally would prefer that some of the discussions, particularly on the Politics forum, not happen on 2+2. They can get very heated and partisan, and a lot of the discussion I find to be ignorant. Furthermore, I think some of those threads may turn off some potential posters. But, we have a policy of being generally permissive, and that is important to us.

But we have to have a modding system in place that will immediately remove stuff like kiddie porn (just a clear-cut example), and we need it sooner, rather than later. It may be inconsistent for a while and seem unfair... obviously that sucks. No one wants that. But we need it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Legal obligations? I thought we were constitutionally guaranteed free speech rights in america. Also, you think those people (from politics) are going to become less ignorant by avoiding those discussions? I don't see your logic, goal, or point!

Regarding the clear-cut examples, if moderating them means everything else gets ruined, then i'd rather not moderate anything. Assuming the clear-cut stuff is responsibly removed, i don't think there will be any complaints. There is no need to remove anything other than the clear-cut stuff!
