It never stated he didn't have a straight draw.

You put player 3 on the flush because of his FLOP action.

You put player 1 on the straight because of his TURN action.

There's more to this hand than you guys are reading into.

Yes, if someone does have the Jd, he can and should make a sizable raise if given the opportunity, but that is why you just call (you don't want the guy with the straight to make this play). If the flush draw also happens to have a straight (aka Jd Xd) then you are in a tought spot, but this isn't going to be a factor the majority of the time. If it gets raises you have to consider the pot sizes when making the call, but folding just becasue somebody *might* be freerolling you is silly when you only need to call a small bet.

An aside, I know that if my opponent has the Jd, he knows that he can try to represent the freeroll even if he doesn't have it (which is far more likely), and so if he tries to push in I have to call anyway.

What if you are reraised an ammount that you have to call due to pot odds, but are being freerolled.

This is a case where two independent plays can be correct but collectively they are wrong.

yeah i am seeing the possibility of calling here, and sklansky will probably demonstrate how using the chances of the guy having the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and crunching numbers, calling is actually +EV.

still though, raising is very stupid.

Min-raise and call are pretty close here. You want the flush draw to come along, the question is will he come along for a minraise?

Default and.....

If you fold to an all-in reraise by the bare Jd, that is also a mathmatical catastrophe.

So is calling an all-in reraise by the Jd flush draw.

Catch-22.

And if he is indeed shoving with the Jdxd, your call is horrible.

You're between a rock and a hard place.

The two diamonds HAD to flop. If the second diamond came on the turn how the hell could you put him on the backdoor flush draw when he hasn't even acted yet!?!

Did his nose twitch?
