All right, since we're on the topic of Little League pitching, we've got to discuss the effect of 10 and 11 year olds (sometimes younger?) learning how to throw a curve ball that young. I know some serious physical damage can happen, and especially if they are taught improperly... but moreso because they are underdeveloped physically. When I pitched in little league (early 90s) my coaches made sure that I did not throw a curve until I was at least 12. And they damn sure made sure I was throwing it right.

I remember a big news report about kids too young throwing curve balls that had to have career-changing surgery at like, 13. Just really sad.

What kind of serious physical damage can occur?

[/ QUOTE ]

Serious ligament damage. I believe it is ulnar collateral ligament damage. Basically, they would undergo Tommy John's surgery.

On the bright side, at least you never have to worry that Hassan bluffed you off a hand, since he'll always show.

hello, I just want to say that the bike is doing a great job broadcasting their cash games on live at the bike.
I am a cash game player out of biloxi,ms.
Our main game is 20-40 or 15-30 with a rock.
I have been to many cardrooms around the country and never found poker rooms that use a rock.
Have u guys?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I've heard of a rock being used in some Vegas casinos, but I guess that would depend on the individual table.

It also is the job of parents to be properly educated in the activities that their children are involved in, so they should likewise make sure that li'l Johnny doesn't start throwin' curves at 10.

That's OLD news, too, as I remember when I was pitching when I was younger my father didn't want me throwing curve balls right away as he knew something about it hurting my elbow. (That, or Hungarian immigrants have AMAZING medical abilities with random knowledge they shouldn't have.)

The Rock is very rare ... but it shouldn't be.

FAR too few casinos have one going.

This seems to be a different usage of the word "rock" than I am used to in poker.

it was basically an all in or fold hand.. It's kinda obvious you don't have the 7 and you probrably have an over pair...

How is it an all-in or fold hand? Stacks were pretty deep, weren't they?

Traditionally a "rock" is 8 $5 chips rubber banded together. Once in circulation, anyone who wins a pot with the Rock MUST put it in as a live straddle when they are UTG.

(This is assuming a $20-$40 game.)
