So you think an expert who was delt 999,995 would stop raising me after the 20th raise? What if this expert knew I was a newbee? You don't think he would try to run over me? I know I would never have a chance of making any money if the expert's hand was >500,000 but the closer he has a hand 1,000,000 the more I'll make off him.

I would love to play this game heads up against anyone that will only raise 9 times with 999,999.

This question is just like a no-limit game since there is no cap. Although I do think you could actually milk someone out of $1,000,000 easier doing it $1 at a time instead of making an up front $1,000,000 bet from the get go. |

What if this expert knew I was a newbee? [/ QUOTE ] The problem everyone else is trying to figure out is expert vs expert play. |

[ QUOTE ] This is just wrong. You have not given any thought to what range of hands your expert opponent puts you on. [/ QUOTE ] Its even more wrong to just quote one part of my post without quoting the rest when you make a statement like that. Reason... [ QUOTE ] Of course if I’m up against an expert I highly doubt he will keep re-raising me after a certain limit depending on what he has. [/ QUOTE ] "depending on what he has" I'm assuming he is playing it against what he is putting me on. My mistake if that wasn't clear. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, you're right, part of your post contradicts the other part of your post. |

[/ QUOTE ] It's not an expert play to try to bluff someone who will call. Against someone who keeps raising, both the optimal strategy and the one followed by novices will usually end with a call. |

That’s fine but the original question only states that you are up against an expert, not what you think another expert will do against said expert.
I appreciate the angle you and others are approaching this problem but you are to black and white. Raising 20 to 22 times before calling is exactly what I would expect out of a bot program, not from an expert. |

I don't think an expert would be trying to bluff me since you can only re-raise $1 at a time. I'm sure the expert would keep raising me trying to extract as much money from me as he/she could. That is what the real experts do playing poker. That is what I would hope to use against them.

If I am not mistaken, the answer to that question can be found here: &rnum=8#d5792d0f67e38736]Some Game Theory [/ QUOTE ] No, that assumes the pot size is infinite. That would mean no bluffing, and no folding. (As the pot size increases, the probabilities of bluffing and folding drop to 0.) It does show that you should not bet just because you have a good hand. You need to be ahead of the hands that call you by enough to compensate for the times you get raised. |
