I dont have my copy of TOP to hand, but if i remember correctly AQs is slightly better than AKo. I'm not sure if this is the same as A9o vs A8s but maybe its something to think about.

it's hard to say which is "better." if I'm UTG at a loose 10 person table I'd rather have AQs. if it's a tight table, I'd take AKo. 6-handed I'd take AKo because it's likely to be a shorthanded pot.

this is getting off-topic but one inherent problem with AK that I've never read anywhere, is when you make a straight, no one's going to war with you. if you make broadway with AQ you get a lot more action. K9 might go 2 bets on a QJT board against your AK, while I have had Q9 go nuts against me on a KJT board several times. it's rare but it happens. it's easier to see here but it's not as pronounced as in other situations that are a little less obvious. these subtle thigns, like 2 pair with a connector costing you a lot of bets when someone hits a straight, are important

I don't know how people can be so disgusted with people not raising KTo UTG when there seem to be plenty of respected posters who fold this. If anything, it is really close. QJo I am not sure of, but I would lean towards fold too. A9o I think I raise often, but most likely I will do it if my table is on the tigheter side. Again, I think all of these are close, and folding can't be that wrong (it might even be right).

Nearly 2:1 raise:
QTs, JTs

Nearly 1:2 fold:
QJo, KTo, A9o

This poll clearly shows how there will be great games for a long time to come.

This may be a landmark moment for poker. A landmark post! Rejoice!

wait are u saying u usually raise QJo, KTo, A9o utg...or that u are more likely to do it over the other hands?

In an agressive six max game where a re-raise by a later player is common, Im not really a big fan of any of these. Many opponents will re-raise with AJo-ATo,77,KQo,KJs. KTo doesnt not play well against those re-raising hands. I dont mind popping the high offsuit cards UTG in tight games, etc but I prefer doing it in a later postion...I also dont think JTs raise UTG should be common place. I think that is too loose, it could be a decent raise in a tight game, but always playing it UTG? Bleh.

I guess it depends.

EDIT: I assume your post meant u like raising with the high offsuits compared to the lower suited hands. Im a little tired, so give me so leway there.

I think the first two hands are a fair ammount better than the last 3 when UTG 6-handed, but also think your time is better spend thinking about other situations if you wanna work on your preflop game or thinking about what gameconditions makes you call/raise/fold each of them..

My post said nothing of my game nor did it of anyone elses'. In fact if you came to me and said:

I like folding QJo, QTs, A9o, KTo, JTs in everyday 6-max games, I'd say fine.

I like raising QJo, QTs, A9o, KTo, JTs in everyday 6-max games, I'd say fine.

It's just that the overall concensus by the #1 place to discuss poker on the internet would rather play QTs and JTs over KTo and QJo is alarming.

Such a poll in it's intent is irrelevant and I'd raise or fold all those hands in all sorts of games. Granted, some more than others (raise/fold). The only way to view such a poll is to think of it as being stuck w/one hand for your entire time playing poker and had to raise UTG. I'd rather have QJo for the rest of my life in a 6-max game than QTs. But the population obviously feels different.
