Thanks for sharing the story Bob.

What klepto totally ignores is the feelings of those he stole from. My bike is worth well over the $40 someone mentions... arond 1,500... and two of my brothers have Kona's, Gary Fisher and Rocky Mountain bikes in the range of $3,000. We go to the extreme to make sure asses like Klepto don't get them. What no one thinks of is the underpriveleged kids that can't afford to replace a stolen bike and may do without for a long time. Is it their fault that the best lock they could afford was easily clipped by Klepto?

To those who think this guy is cool... just remember that this is the type of seedy individual lurking around casinos that they don't want. He will eventually step up to stealing whatever else he can quickly sell when he's broke again.

Seriosusly, all the people hating on the # of bikes Klepton stole need to taste a grip of reality that is isla vista. The ammount of bikes stolen is absoultely incredible. Like I have said, nobody gives a flying [censored] crap about the bikes. Everyone gets bike stolen and everyone steals bikes. The people who don't care are just stupid ass idiots who don't understand the IV scene.

I can't imagine why you would get so stressed about this. Why not just park your car somewhere else, don't they have lock ups or something?

My plan would have been to go Phone Booth style, leave a message on the chair saying, 'right now you have a x932509084whatever sniper rifle pointing at you, if you move, i will kill you. I'm calling the police now, getting arrested is better than dying, again, if you move, i will kill you.' All this while you are at work! He was obviously trying to [censored] with you so this should get him to stop.

Well....at the time I didn't really fully know whether this guy was stalking me a bit more dangerously.

He had broken into my home once...and tried to with his buddy the very next day.
No idea if he was dangerous or not.

I actually did try parking elsewhere. One night after returning from work I parked two blocks away on the street (lots of parked cars) and walked the rest of the way. I thought that maybe I could sneak up on him (if he happened to be lurking....and he wouldn't see my headlights coming)...and MAYBE he would try to break into my house again WHILE I was there since my car wasn't in the space.

Well - none of that happened. but the next day when I walked down to get my car...he had broken my freaking window again!!
He must have been roaming that part of the neighborhood and decided to hit it one more time.

Lots of people in the neighborhood were reporting the same problem (and it was ALWAYS the passenger-side back-door little-triangle window). A couple people said they knew someone who had been hit twice. But I'm the only one I knew about that was hit 6 or 7 times.

Anyway - after awhile I was more relaxed about it and I realized he was probably pretty harmless and stupid.

But afer my place gotten broken into...and then he came back with his buddy the next day and was bold enough to just tell my land-lady that he was a friend of mine...well, I was pretty rattled. I didn't know who this guy was nor what he might try.

I know it doesn't sound like much. but it really was pretty damn stressful at the time.
