<<<<The turn 8 was a scary card, and he may have been thinking back to when S9 hit quad 8's earlier. It was a bold raise by S9 and paid off, for a bit.
If seat 5 has the Kd its an easy call I think, but then again it is easy to be critical when you know what the players have.>>>>

If I had the King of diamonds, it would have been an easy call, yes. By the way, you said, "It still has me thinking." Believe me, it still has ME thinking.

And yes, as I said above, I was thinking back to his quad 9's. I have a near-photographic memory of hands played and tells given, so I remembered everything Seat 9 had done. It's just that he gave off so many mixed signals, I couldn't decide which ones to believe. Ultimately, the signal I should have trusted the most was his sudden quietness and the fact that he wouldn't look at me.

But as I admitted, I went against my guy because of the money. Plain and simple.

Oh yeah...the reason I only bet 60 was because I wanted to get as much money out of him as I could. He was a calling station, obviously, and he'd shown me that he was willing to make loose calls if they were cheap enough. Honestly, I thought I had him completely dominated--the massive re-raise threw me off.

Hey,

It is hard to play fearless when money is a concern and you were in a very tough spot.

I say Fuk It...You are a good player, i think, and at the end of the day you have cash in your pocket and S9 doesn't. Long term you are already ahead with your money management and the experience will help you for next time.

Take care...

BTW-I also have a pornographic memory.

Thanks for the comments.

Tonight was my very first live NL game. I've been playing 99% online for almost a year (started playing poker 10 months ago), and I just started playing in casinos a month ago. Mostly tourneys, where I do well (because I protect my chips, as everyone saw tonight, unfortunately), and a couple of limit games. I couldn't handle the horrible play of limit, so I thought I'd give live a shot tonight. I guess I was in over my head when it came to the money.

Long term, I'll make my bankroll off of players like Seat 9. A few hands earlier, I'd taken about 100 from him with 9's when he chased with Ace high. But short term, I'm still pissed about my laydown, because even though several people think it was good, I was 75% sure he was bluffing. And I ignored all the signs that I was reading. Good read, bad play, and that's what pisses me off. If the play happened an hour earlier (before I was planning on leaving soon), I call him, and if I had a bigger bankroll, I call him. And that's just bad decision-making on my part.

I don't mean to ramble here, but I hope I'm bringing up a lot of important issues that could maybe help all of us not make my mistake. Poker isn't just about the play--money, time, size of bankroll, etc. are also factors, and you need to come to the table with a solid foundation so you can play your best game. I did not, and it cost me about 300 bucks.

First I would like to say thanks again Bart for responding to my question I will try to contact them about the freerolls. You must have a blast doing the "Live at the Bike" webcast, this just might lead to much greater things for you one day!

Second, Jenkinster that show down between you and seat nine was classic, I had my fingers crossed hoping you would just go all in when you asked him how much he had left. I can say from personal experience that I've been there done that. In the end I feel you made the right call, for the plain and simple fact that seat nine was reckless the whole night he could have had anything the way he was playing. There will be plenty of opportunities to take guys like that to the bank. Good luck!
