the fan is a moron and the "Yankees suck" chant there is just stupid.

i was at the game last night. the friggin yankees are heaving a great inning and then fans start chanting that. makes me wanna puke.

Gary didn't hit him. It looked like the fan slapped Gary. Sheff held back, I think he handled it well by any standard.

If Sheff had hit him he wouldn't be standing.

Right, and Yankee fans wouldn't interfere with a ball in play?

Gimme a break, I'm not a fan of either team, but don't take the high and mighty road pretending that this wouldn't happen in NY either.

istewart summed it up well. That guy shouldn't have swiped at the ball, but Sheffield certainly shouldn't have overreacted the way he did.

The fan interfered. He should've been ejected, as he was, and it should've been a ground rule double. Gary should not have taken a swing at him.
