You can tell by looking at his fore-arms on TV that he's muscular .. I don't see what the argument is.

Im 6 foot and a good deal above 200lbs....

those BMI charts are utterly useless there was a time i was considered obese at like 8 percent body fat and benching like 130 lbs over my weight. I also was in excellent cardi vascular shape at the time. Charts dont take into account muscle mass and more imprtantly bones size and density..

The travel channel and discovery channel shows on casino-security and 'catching cheaters' etc make it look like the camers are everywhere at all times and someone is ALWAYS watching you as well as watching out FOR you.
This just isn't true either.
There are only so many cameras...and so many eyes....and they have a whole bunch of tapes to constantly be changing up there too (if they haven't gone computerized yet).

[/ QUOTE ]

and even if there's a camera, there's always the chance that it's out of service. i was talking to a cop who had worked with a casino on a credit card fraud case, and a notable number of the camera tapes they wanted were non-functional.

precisely.
the casinos give the ILLUSION that you are being watched at all times...but it simply isn't true.

You see all the 'cheaters caught' tapes on the casino shows on cable....but what you don't see are all the cheaters that get away with it...BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T ON TAPE!! Duh!!

There are plenty of cheaters who actually pull it off.
I don't think it's worth the risk of course.

I didn't read every post in this thread...but I did catch part of one of Greg's posts where he said he thought that many people who get held up like he was wind up dead.
I don't think this is true (although I guess it depends on your definition of 'many').

I believe that a lot of people who get robbed at gun-point or knife-point give up the money and come away physically unharmed.
This doesn't make it any scarier and I am happy that things turned out as well as they did for Greg...but I do think the smarter move is to give up the $500 or $1k or whatever and hope for the best. I think the chances are reasonable that they'll take the money and run.

That's how the authorities tell you to handle a car-jacking situation: Just give up your car...because they'll likely leave you unharmed if you do. But if you try to resist you are increasing the risk that you will get injured/shot.

Of course...with only 1 or 2 seconds to act who knows how I would act in such a situation (and I hope I don't ever get to find out).

-------

I'm really annoyed by the inappropriate comments that were made towards Greg in this thread.

I'm also disappointed that Mat Sklansky and/or other mods did not delete them.

They get rid of most of the spam posts....but I think the unprovoked personal insults such as those in this thread should just be eliminated.

Nothing is gained from them.

I may be reading too much in between the lines of his post, but I'm thinking in the shock of the moment that Greg may have thought it might be a kidnapping attempt. That at least would explain why he fought back...

Greg, glad to hear you are okay. Please ignore the punks posting here (not including me)...

I was talking about kylemontero, not raymer.

Someone remarked that kyle at 6'5" and 235 is overweight, and there is no way for anyone to know that without looking at him.

The BMI charts are flawed in that they don't take into account people who have a lot of muscle mass. Muscle is much denser than fat, after all.
