Hi ggbman:

Players will sometimes check hands on the river that they shouldn't if they get confused. So while not likely, I think it's possible he might check a king-queen or ace-king.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Sucker:

While a slightly different play, we do give a two player hand example in HPFAP where we recommend waiting to the river to make that raise.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Soildier:

You may want to relook at the chapter "Head-Up on the End" in The Theory of Poker.

Hi Sucker:

The "author boy" stuff is something that I don't have to deal with much anymore. But years ago many plays were made against me for precisely that reason.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Barron:

This was a spot where I had an opportunity to play my hand in a confusing fashion. LAGs like to be so aggressive that they can become sure as to what your hand is on the later rounds. So by playing in this fashion I can sometimes get the best of them. Also, if the next hand I play with them is played in a straight forward fashion, they won't be sure there either.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Soildier:

A turn three bet is clearly wrong in my opinion.

Hi Stork:

If he has good hand reading skills it will be difficlut for him to read me for a king after I check the river. That's because he will know that I know his preflop three bet can be with a wide range of hands. Thus my flop check raise doesn't necessarily have to be with a king, and I now confirm this by checking the river.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi warbler:

My other posts should answer your question. Keep in mind that the best play is the one that produces the highest EV.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Rory:

I didn't work through all of your post but it seems to me that you're not taking into account the betting action. For example, given that my opponent three bet the flop makes it less likely he started with a pair of aces.

mason

Hi Sucker:

As you know but perhaps not everyone else, these games can become super aggressive when short handed.

best wishes,
Mason
