Was that the reunion tour with HWM? I wanted to go to that but was not able. Who knows what affect age and emo had on those guys. Their best two albums were unquestionably the first two full-lengths, although I also like Horsebox a lot.

Point taken about his voice. Not a lot of dynamic range.

Dammit, I forgot Odelay, I think that gets Ambulance bumped out. It probably goes around 10-13 on my list.

Also, I think way too much weight is being put on music of the last 5 years. In no way is my list a "Top 20 albums I want to listen to" it is Best Rock Albums. I think there is a drastic difference between the two.

It's just what's fresh in our minds. 50% of my collection comes from the past 3 years.

so what's the difference between rock alternative and metal anyway, here. Because am I deluded in thinking that metallica's black album or either of the 2 STP albums should have been mentioned by now? or G 'n R Use your illusion I/II?

Eh? I'm using a pretty broad definition of "Rock." Just about anything that isn't overtly rap fits, I think, otherwise I would've mentioned Blazing Arrow.

I'm just not a fan of Metallica or GNR. Definitely not a fan of STP.

Dammit, STP- Purple definetly deserves its spot. Mad I forgot that, the cd is excellent. Black album and UYI I/II were left off of mine as I think they are 20-35 range (not a metallica fan, and it is one of their worst albums IMHO).

I'm not saying it's their best work, but to put 3 311 albums on a list over these seems criminal.

I'm old and tilt a little toward butt rock at times. There, I admit it.

That said, here's my list.

1. Saturation -- Urge Overkill
2. Magic and Loss -- Lou Reed
3. Exile in Guyville -- Liz Phair
4. When I was Born for the Seventh Time -- Cornershop
5. Girlfriend -- Matthew Sweet
6. Hoist -- Phish
7. So Much for the Afterglow -- Everclear
8. Live at the Greek -- Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes
9. Achtung Baby -- U2
10. Throwing Copper -- Live
11. Evil Empire -- Rage Against The Machine
12. Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell -- Social Distortion
13. Destination Failure -- The Smoking Popes
14. Permission to Land -- The Darkness
15. Rubber Factory -- The Black Keys
