Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (7/7)

Anyone know why California NL ring games have a restricted max buy-in of up to only 50x the big blind? [/ QUOTE ] Actually, most restricted buy in games in LA have initial buy-ins about 33x, 40x, and sometimes 50 or 60 x's the big blind. One reason is that in Los Angeles they take a full drop on any flop (because of local interpertation of state law) so things can get quite ugly if the blinds are very small, there are only one or two limpers, and we get a flop where $3 house rake plus $1 jackpot is immediately dropped. Keep in mind at the Commerce and Hawaiian Gardens there are now restricted buy-in games with 5/10 blinds and buy-ins of $400 and $500 respectively. These games are rapidly becoming popular with people who got their feet wet playing the smaller games, want to play bigger, but feel more comfortable with the smaller max buy-in relative to the blinds. My observation is that the restricted buy in games don't tighten up as fast as the unrestricted buy in games do over time. That said, there are many very good unrestricted buy in games to chose from at the big clubs, including the Bike's game with 5/10 blinds. Regards, Rick |
