If a movie has already been mentioned, is it automatically in (unless deemed not a comedy)? OR, do the movies that get mentioned the most get in, and those the rest don't even make it to the first ballot?

All of mine have beeen mentioned already.

Dumb And Dumber
Fletch
The Jerk
Wayne's World
Clerks
Happy Gilmore
Office Space
Caddyshack
American Pie

That said, I hope we don't suffer from the same "Older is Better" bias that baseball fans, music aficionados, and movie buffs all fall prey to.

Are you guys talking about the sequel to the whole nine yards, because that movie wasn't near as good as the first one. The whole nine yards was really funny.

[/ QUOTE ]

They must be talking about the first one (The Whole 9 yards). The sequel blew big time.

Heathers
Midnight Run
Monsters Inc.
Being John Malkovich

[/ QUOTE ]

While there are funny parts in all of these, none of them are pure (or even 90%) comedies, and IMHO we've got enough to work with already anyway.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll concede that Midnight Run is not a comedy, and that Monsters Inc. may fall under the realm of "adventure" or "fantasy", but how would you categorize the other 2 you mentioned? Have you seen Heathers? How could it possibly be categorized as anything but a comedy? Same with Being John Malkovich.
