A!
You have to fold here without putting any more money in the pot. There is a 33% chance that the player to the right has the J of diamonds. If he does, then there is no possible way for you to win. The best you can do is chop.

You are even worse off if the guy with the flush draw has the J of diamonds, as there is no possible way for him to lose this pot.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,
Brad

Your assumption that no one has a flush draw with the Jd is very dangerous.

We're discussing the immediate play on the turn. We're not talking about action coming back to you this round, or even the river.

To this point, calling or making a moderate raise doesn't jeopardize that many chips. So, everything you've outlined, while it may be true, and is definitely weak-tight, is not relevant with a call or a moderate raise.

Making a large raise or moving all-in does. You've sold me on the logic behind holding the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] so now I wouldn't even consider these options.

That's absolutely true. But the original bettor HASN'T moved in yet, and there's no guarantee that he will. If he doesn't hold the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], then he wouldn't come back over the top for all the reasons that you and Squirrel have said.

If he moves in or even bets large NO HAND that doesn't contain the Jd has the odds to call.

He only has no risk if they have a straight, since they can't improve. However, if they have anything other than a straight, the pot is not laying them the odds to improve.

Hmmm, and risk the flush draw behind you raising? I don't like that play, but it is a lot better than raising.

Thank you.

I'm glad someone can figure this out without me having to explain it in detail.

Default Let me clarify something.

I still think folding is correct.

I wouldn't be shocked if David can produce mathematical evidence proving calling is SLIGHTLY correct.

Raising is suicide.
