why are you so sure that this market does not exist only for the sole purpose of non-qualifying, possible colluders, spake Granny:

dumpers and MINORS to have a way to get their grubs on some stars real money?

this is my only objection (and fears)

I not so sure. But then as a minor I played .25 cent poker from time to time just like millions of other american kids.
I don't share the industry's faux "concern" about minors becoming addicted to gambling. I think it's far worse to keep them sheltered until they're 21, and then unleashing them to the wolves, or rather casinos, like lambs to the slaughter. Plus gambling games are excellent ways to teach kids probability concepts. If it were up to me they'd devote the entire 7th grade math class to prob. and stats, and use dice and decks of cards as props. Instead, lots of folks get to "learn" at a roulette table.

so did i. i hosted home games at 12. however, my parents knew, we were playing against each other (children), and we were not undermining the rules of a gaming establishment. i fear less about the minors than i do the smarms.

$225 for play chips is NOT a minor buying them, the small auctions, maybe. this one, no. please put a hypothetical out there where $225 would be reasonable for a buyer to pay this? and don't gimme the line from the auction that says "don't let them run over you anymore.. be a high roller"

oh well. this has been discussed ad nasuem and if stars cared they would have addressed it.

ok, here's a plan i think we should do...

let's ALL toss our play money to an account (just like rJ was joking in that thread). then when we get enough to sell for hundreds, all the contributers get to play in a winner take all freeroll for the dough. i will personally host the ebay auction. all can xfer your play money chips to my account and i will handle everything.

let's build our own tourney with the new software and fund it with an ebay, stars play money chip sale.

who's in? is this ok ellis? jacob? dan? lee? do we have your blessing?

silence will be deemed affirmative.

Default It\'s been done before.......

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago before the advent of real money on-line play was a site called Funcom.

The big game played there (all for fake $$'s, of course) was NL Omaha high-only.

There was a player there called Pepsi Cola, who with regularity, dominated the game.

He was in the habit of selling his "Play $$'s" to whomever was foolish enough to buy them.

There were plenty who did.

Does anyone here remember this?

Hi guys,

PokerStars FAQ

Play Money games:

[ QUOTE ]
You will be given 1,000 play money chips to start. However, if at any time you are below 100 chips, simply click the dealer tray and select "Add More Chips...".

This "rebuy" feature is intended to replenish the stack of a player who has legitimately lost their entire stack in play. The new 1,000 chips are for the use of that player only. Re-buys acquired for purposes other than this are subject to forfeiture.

[/ QUOTE ]

In other words - go win the chips and transfer them to Granny or whoever by all means - but - do NOT transfer your "rebuys".

Best Regards

ahhh, i knew we could flush you out for this discussion ellis.

ok, let's cut through the "support-speak" for a second and pretend you are still a mere mortal.

1. why would people want 5,000,000 in play chips? is it really just to be able to dominate the funny money games?

2. just answer this so my paranoid little brain can let this go once and for all. is there someone looking at transfers of 5,000,000 play chips for $225 stars real money and making sure the recipient of the play money has gone through the necessary steps that allow us to play for real money?

ty sir. this whole thing just baffles me. for $225, someone can run all over the micro-NL, so why would they pay for funny money when they can bully real money with the same stack?

Dunno

just answer this so my paranoid little brain can let this go once and for all. is there someone looking at transfers of 5,000,000 play chips for $225 stars real money and making sure the recipient of the play money has gone through the necessary steps that allow us to play for real money?

I don't really like the PM alternative currency thing at the moment as I am sure you can imagine it does cause us all sorts of hassles that we could do without. We have a general policy that we do not allow solicitation at our tables because it is imposible to regulate - nor would we want to mediate PM sales - heck it's only fun money!! - EBay is regulated and if you get scammed you have recourse.

All PS players are expected to be of a legal age. Realistically we have to assume that players are of legal age unless proven otherwise... we have quite a few players, HR's even that are funded initially via transfers from other players - or Western Union. Even then underage players "could" share a credit card from someone else anyway... it is impossible to verify the age of all users.

We require that all real money players have true and accurate account information at all times - eg City on display and address and full name on record...

Any more Q's

Regards,

Ellis
