Weak-tight two pair?
Texas Hold'em No Limit $0.10/0.20 - 8 players
Players: Hero (BTN) ($23.66) MP ($19.07) Villain (BB) ($20.02) Hero was dealt: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] MP calls, Hero raises 0.80, Villain calls, MP calls Flop (3 players, $2.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain check, MP check, Hero bets 1.50, Villain raise 3.00, MP folds, Hero calls Turn (2 players, $8.50) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain bets 3.50, Hero folds Opponent is loose-passive. This is his only ch-raise I have on him and I have 200 hands on him. When I think about it now it seems like a terrible fold. Should we ever be afraid of 99 here? How do you handle two pair hands against aggression? I have trouble playing them when they get very aggresive. |

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
I know that every hand is a new hand, but prior to this I had been seeing alot of sets against me. That really gets into your head.
What do you put him on? I think he most likely has AK, AJ-9. Could be Q9 even. What if he had made a potsized bet on the turn? Still raise him then? |

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
No way you can fold this. At this level if he's got a set you pay it off in a heartbeat. I like the flop raise, but raise more than just the minimum. After he leads the turn I just raise all in. If he checks the turn you value bet the turn for 3/4 of the pot. DO NOT FOLD THIS HAND EVER.

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
I didn't raise.
I got check-raised. That was the action that surprised me. Getting check-raised by a passive player is always scary. But he may have picked up on the fact that I almost always CB. Thanks for the reminder that I should never fold here. And afterwards I totally agree. Top two pair against BB and a limper. |

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
On a board like this you play top two pair you like it is the nuts?
Especially against only 2 opponents. |

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
Raise turn all in. You had him beat. This is a terrible fold.

Re: Weak-tight two pair?
I agree that this fold is probably my worst yet.
What if I had AJ? Call the flop and fold the turn? Or is that too weak-tight as well? At this level it is very rare that players bet large bets when they are passive. Usually big bets = very big hands. On the other hand if he had the set he would have slowplayed it probably as that is the default play of sets at this level. |
