the other caller had Q-J-9-6 rainbow (imagine: calling 60 big blinds with that!).

Not as dumb as you think. One possible scenario:

http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1424502
pokenum -mc 500000 -o qh jd 9s 6c - as 5d ah td - ad ac 3d 4c
Omaha Hi: 500000 sampled boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
9s 6c Jd Qh 203163 40.63 296837 59.37 0 0.00 0.406
As Td 5d Ah 51494 10.30 335940 67.19 112566 22.51 0.216
Ac 4c Ad 3d 132777 26.56 254657 50.93 112566 22.51 0.378

One thing I have learned playing Omaha is never assume you are as big a favorite as you think.

The old limp-reraise with AAxx from EP eh?
Fine at the low limits and fine if you can get a large portion of your stack in preflop but not great as you move up limits.
