I am very good at live NL poker.
So I went to Wal-Mart late last night to go get some potato chips and check out the DVD section when I had the sudden urge to go play live NL Texas Hold Them, so I did.
I called the room in advance to put my name on the board. I arrive at the casino with 15 nice clean 100 dollar bills in my pocket and I am first on the list and my seat is available. Sweet. I buy-in for 500 and take the very first hand I'm dealt and I fold while unracking my chips. Second hand, a copule limpers to me in the hijack and I make it 35 with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Only one of the limpers call and he has me covered. The flop is: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He overbet leads the pot for 100. I pause for a moment or three trying to decide the best way to destroy this man. Then after much deliberation I announce "All-in". He ponders for a few and calls. Turn: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] River: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He flips over 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and I do my best to not look upset and toss my cards into the muck. 10 more bills in my pocket. I take out another 5 and get another rack. The table around me is quite the lively one with the two weakest players happening to also have pretty deep stacks. So in the middle of me folding I quietly take out the other 5 bills in my pocket and make my stack an even 1000. Then my second hand came up. A couple of limpers to me with me on the button this time. I make it 35 with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Two callers. The flop comes out: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Checked to me and I bet 85. The first limper checkraises to 270. (He has me covered) and I figure oh well what the hell. "All-in". He says, "well now I have to call." Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] River: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Now there is a hesitation at showdown. He is hesitant to flip over his hand. I am ready to muck mine. The dealer tells us to turn the cards over and after a little scuffle, he says "you got me. i just have a pair of eights." and flips over 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I just sit and nod my head. "Nice hand." muck. and I reach into my pocket only to find it empty. "Open seat." |

Re: I am very good at live NL poker.
I feel for you. I had the exact same situation as your second hand in a live 5/10NL game happen to me a few months ago. Top end of a straight flush draw and the guy with the bottom end calls...no straight or flush for either of us....just a pair of sixes. I had flipped my hand up prior to him flipping up his and he says, "You're not gonna like this..."

[/ QUOTE ] This is the best part. I have been at restaurants, 7-11s, nightclubs, libraries, funerals and weddings when struck with this same urge. I always seem to go play too. |
