Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Josh, I did a little searching on Newegg.com and found video cards that support 2560x1600 resolution starting at $95.00. Of course they up quite a bit higher than that, but there are several options under $200. Here is the NEWEGG link for the page I found. These are PCI Express X16 cards. There are 14 choices. You should be able to get an idea for here. [/ QUOTE ] None of the cheap ones have Dual DVI which you need to run this monitor. [/ QUOTE ] You do **NOT** need dual DVI to run this monitor. The monitor has dual DVI so you can plug in multiple sources, and switch between them. [/ QUOTE ] are you sure? from what i read it seemed like the most that a single DVI can support is 1920x1200 and that's only due to some crafy engineering by dell. i have no idea what any of this stuff means. that's just what i think i saw. [/ QUOTE ] There seems to be a spot of confusion here with Dual DVI (two single-link DVI connectors - a lot of VGA cards have this), and Dual-link DVI, required to do a resolution of 2560x1600. Take a look at wikipedia on DVI here. Also on this wikipedia page, the awesome IBM 3820x2400 quad-dvi flat panel Only 22 inch, so probably a bit much for multi-tabling. Also quite expensive. There are not too many VGA cards supporting Dual-Link DVI right now, the ones I know of are the Nvidia 78xx series PCIe cards, and the top end Matrox cards. I think the new ATi 1xxx series PCIe cards do also, but I've not seen one of those yet. Whilst having Dual DVI ports, the Nvidia 7800GT/GTX only have one port that is capable of dual-link, therefore to run a pair of these new 30" Dells you will need two expensive VGA cards and an SLI motherboard to fit them. dave. |

Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
After doing so more research I believe this card will also support 2560x1600 resolution AND has the dual DVI feature if that is in fact required to run this monitor:

Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
I do think some of the cheaper mentioned cards will work, but this is my suggestion.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130251 It's $175 bucks, and its a beast of a card. Runs Half Life 2 beautifully. Plus it's SLI supported, so you can plug two together, and really kick ass. |

If it does, It'd be the first Geforce 6 series card I've seen capable of this feature. dave. |

Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
Josh,
Just add a 2405 FPW in the middle of your two 2001FP's. It looks awesome enough. You aren't really doing more than 12 tables anyways and the 2405FPW is amazing as a main monitor. Makes my 2001FP look small... 30" would seriously be overkill IMO. |

Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
Will the GeForce 7800 GTX DEFINETLY be able to run this 30 inch monitor with the 2560 X 1600 resolution? Pretty important because I am going to return the laptop I just bought (with the 6800 GTX) if it cant handle the Dell 30 and buy a laptop that does offer a 7800 GTX as a video card (this wasn't an option when I was trying to configure the Inspiron 9300).

I can 12 table with no overlap and have AIM/Skype running on the extra space in the 2405FPW. 24" is plenty big for TV/movies on something that is a foot away from your face. That's what my 42" Plasma is for anyways... my computer is for computer stuff. Edit: Also, the 2405FPW is the same pixel height at the 2001FP and only about 1/2 inch taller, so it looks perfectly fine in the middle of 2 2001FPs. |

Re: Playing Poker on a 30\" Monitor
I'd likely buy another 20" monitor for 350~$ depending on the shipping cost (im from the Netherlands).
