Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
tough to lay this one down but a reraise preflop would have helped. has he been playing this way? has he been winning? does he drive the pot with top pair weak kicker the same way? answering those questions would help you decide whether to call. he could have aces of course.

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
I'd call,
His move doesn't make any sense. |

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
Re-raise that PF. No cheap flops here.

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
PF is fine.
Raise to at least $75 on the flop, or just call. I usually give short stacks no respect, so I call. |

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
Yeah, reraise preflop. You want no more than one caller with AK. Also if initial raiser had KK or AA he could then tell you.

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
I'd re-raise pre-flop and definitely raise more on the flop. Why are you min-raising? As played, if he's weak, I'd lean more towards calling. Sucks if he hit his damn kicker.

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
Reraise pre-flop.
Raise more on flop or else just call. The turn tells me he has a decent 1 pair hand, but your play looks weak, so he's either ahead or thinks you'll fold a king. Call him on turn. He probably has something like JJ/TT or KQ/KJ. |

Re: Lay it down? AKsuit
reraising pf is not a necessity here... not sure why people are saying it is. sure it makes decisions easier sometimes, but its not always the best way to play.
if you reraise and get hu vs a pair, you arnt making much money post flop. (sure you get low pairs to fold on QTx flops, but large % of the time you miss and get called equals this out) if you reraise and get hu vs a non pair, yes you make money by betting the flop on average. The main advantage to repopping pf vs a non pair is that you win the pot on raggedy flops, whereas you would lose them if you flat call the raise and the villian continuation bets. However, this advantage is not very large here because the pot is multiway. The villian will be more learly of continuation betting without a pair if there are 3 or 4 callers pf. the other advantage of flat calling pf here is that you increase your average profit when you hit 1 pair. if you reraise and you hit an A or a K, you arnt getting paid off very often. However if you flat call and 1 pair, you will get money in the pot while ahead quite often. The reason for this is simple: people will call more dominated hands for 8 dollars, and will call even more dominated hands bc it is multiway. |
