program to fix harddrive problem
i post this in computer tech help also but it will get way less views there im sure.
my computer crashed and i got the blue screen. both my hard drives arent recognized anymore. if i hook these up to another computer with windows already installed is there a program i can use to find my data or repair the drive? partition magic comes to mind.. so anyways, it cant recognize anything about the drive. not the size, the name, or the partitions. i find it hard to believe the data is gone since the crash was only 1 second. maybe there was a short circuit or something and the drives are fried? i cannot think of another reason why both my harddrives are ruined. yea so i lost like a few 100+ gigs of stuff. I will offer money for knowledge on how to obtain my lost data. $100+ |

Re: program to fix harddrive problem
It doesn't take more than a second to lose everything, so it very well may be lost. Take it to a computer repair shop, they will tell you if the harddrives are fried. If they are, take it to someone who specializes in data retrieval. It may be possible to get your data back, but odds are this will cost several hundred dollars.
Think of this as a reminder to back up your data on a regular basis. |

Re: program to fix harddrive problem
Try VirtualLab. I've used it to recover more than one unreadable drive in the past (computers are my job).

Re: program to fix harddrive problem
What type of OS are you plugging the possibly bad hard drives into?
Do the following: control panel -> system ->hardware tab -> device manger button -> disk drives how many drives are listed? if the drives are listed but your not seeing them in My Computer the drives will need to be mapped. Let me know if this works, there are other things you can try as well. |

Re: program to fix harddrive problem
Will the PC no longer boot up or are the hard drives the only bad component? The PC that you are plugging your "bad" drives into may not be able to recognize your "bad" drives because they are big.

Re: program to fix harddrive problem
You could try this: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
PS No need to send me the 100 bucks if it works PPS I am nearly certain that your data is recoverable... just an issue of cost |
