Computer not displaying what I am typing.
My lap top computer has suddenly started displaying different things to what I am typing here is a list, the first column indicates what I type the second column indicates what the computer is displaying on the screen.
i 5 j 1 k 2 l 3 m 0 o 6 p - u 4 It is the same in upper or lower case. All the other letters of the alphabet display correctly. I have Noton Internet Security with fire wall, virus protection etc. and it's regularily updated. I have scanned my computer and no viruses/trogans were detected. Anybody got any idea what is wrong? |

Re: Computer not displaying what I am typing.
This is a joke, right? If not, you might want to turn off the Num Lock...

Re: Computer not displaying what I am typing.
OK thanks for the help, that has fixed it. What exactly is the Fn key for, I can't see what use it has.

Re: Computer not displaying what I am typing.
look on the function keys (F1-F12), there are usually little brightly colored symbols on them for brightness, volume, mute, sleep, etc. the fn key/lock also enables the 10-key "problem" you encountered.

Re: Computer not displaying what I am typing.
To add to what smoore said, what you encountered was the way of dealing with the lack of a number pad on a laptop. It's a way to still have the same functionality without the extra keys.
