Re: Awesome cooking related thing I learned tonight

I guess I thought this was really neat because I was taught to make hamburgers from scratch you had to add egg, flour, and spices and ground it all up, furthermore you really needed a BBQ. I also have never until today seen any college/high school friends make hamburgers from scratch, and if they knew this they definitely would. [/ QUOTE ] WTF, Eggs & Flour in a hamburger??? |

WTF, Eggs & Flour in a hamburger??? [/ QUOTE ] Ya man. It holds the hamburger together. This is how my mom makes them and they are really good. My big discovery is that they are superfluous ingredients. |

Re: Awesome cooking related thing I learned tonight
I have heard of the eggs and flour thing before. It doesn't effect the taste.
I think the OP is really thrilled to figure out that you can save 50 cents by buying ground beef and shaping your own burger instead of buying them preshaped. |

Re: Awesome cooking related thing I learned tonight
Another great thing to add to the hamburger meat before you cook it is grated onion. You can either chop it up real fine or you can use a cheese grater (big hole side). I also like adding in chopped garlic, red pepper flakes, fresh herbs, and a spice called Adobo.

Re: Awesome cooking related thing I learned tonight
Anybody,
ever heard of deep-fat frying a hamburger? Sounds like it would be interesting, but I've never heard of anyone doing it. It might have to be breaded so that it didn't fall apart, but I bet the end result would be pretty good. |
