Re: Prop Bet: Lose 15 pounds of body weight in 72 hrs.
I wrestled in high school in the 135 weight class ... I lost 10 pounds in a couple days (special diet) and then would drop 5 pounds prior to a match very easily. This is such an easy bet, especially for someone that weighs 200 pounds. It should be at least 25 pounds to make this "interesting".

Re: Prop Bet: Lose 15 pounds of body weight in 72 hrs.
I only read a few responses, but I'll go ahead and agree and say this is an easy $10,000. I've lost that much when I went from zero exercise to running everyday, and I am underweight as it was. The idea was to build calf muscles, but I just ended up losing more and more weight. Anyway, it's easy $10,000.

Re: Prop Bet: Lose 15 pounds of body weight in 72 hrs.
If he can prepare for the weigh in, it is easy. For a 200 lb guy, 15 lbs is within the range of what you can gain / lose with glycogen and water weight.
I weigh 175 or so, but I can weigh anywhere from 165 to 185 with a 3 days to prepare. If I weighed in at my average 175 and had to lose 15, I'd be stuck. If I could prepare and make sure I weighed in at 180 or above, this would be a pretty easy bet. The 1/4 lb burger each day would make it a little harder. I wouldnt' eat anything else and I'd be doing tons of cardio to make it work. |

Re: Prop Bet: Lose 15 pounds of body weight in 72 hrs.
doing this has got to be awful for your health, i'd definitely do it once for 10K at this point in my life but for high school and collegiate wrestlers who do this multiple times from the time they are 16-22, this has got to lead to future heart problems, kidney problems, etc. The interaction with steroids that some people are on can't help. People have died from it before as well, no?

Get real, it takes like 50 gallons in 24 hours. I easily drink 2 gallons a day when Im hardcore lifting, and this isnt much to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] Very unhealthy as I posted in Bruiser's fasting thread. 3 college wrestlers died in 1 year (1999 or 2000) because of cutting weight and taking creatine at the same time. If you know how creatine works, you know how retarded this is. As far as I know, no one else has died cutting weight. |

Re: Prop Bet: Lose 15 pounds of body weight in 72 hrs.
I was gonna bring this up. I think the UFC guy went from 228 to 203 in under 23 hours, simply through cardio and sauna combos. And he was drinking HELLA water right up until a few hours before the weigh-in
