Flame On...I really like Country Music
So after getting XM radio when I bought a new car (see my trip report) I have discovered I really like country. But not just country, Old School Western Country. The only artists in this genre I know are Merl Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie, Hank Sr., alittle Kenny Rogers, and that about ends it for me. Please peoples, recommend me some good music. I like the soulful almost depressing pure country sound.

For some real old school you might want to try Woody Guthrie (most famous for "This Land Is Your Land", but quite a few lyrics have been deleted in the elementary school version. craig |

I do too man, don't worry about. Girls love a bit of a twang in your accent anyway.

Re: Flame On...I really like Country Music
Waylon Jennings
Townes Van Zandt (really folk, not country, but everything he did was gold) Guy Clark (The Essential Guy Clark is a good place to start) Steve Earle (I'm not sure if he counts as country. I recommend Guitar Town and Train a Comin') |

Re: Flame On...I really like Country Music
Hank Jr
Older Garth (Unanswered Prayers) George Jones (He Stopped Loving her Today) Brooks & Dunn Kenny Chesney (his slow stuff) couple Ty Herndon songs ill go thru the mp3s at some point and come back with a more comprehensive list. uh... older stuff rules. there's some decent newer stuff among the "pop" crap that's come out lately, but nothing is springing to mind. |
