Well, you lose all your freedom of game selection which can be a big deal. And, yes, there aren't many positions for mid limit games. That said, there are some pros who go this route.

I'm reasonably sure that some of the props in CA make $220-240 a day playing up to ~20/40.

Sorry, I don't know much about floor/shifts except that regular floormen don't usually make all that much.
