Re: how much aggression to show with TPTK
A min-raise may be more effective here. You'll be able to demonstrate strength without bloating the pot. Also, it will be much easier to get away if the turn completes the flush draw.

[/ QUOTE ] Min raise in generally is garbage. You're asking your opponent to take a stance and raise you and I'm too thrilled about dumping a lot of money in a pot wit a10 for top pair....either lead out at the flop or check call him down. |

( I dont think your 10 is good here , I would rather check). But if you are going to fire a second barrel make it a good one at least 160+. If he comes over the top it becomes an easy lay down. I dont think 130 is enough in this spot. A crafty player can push over the top of you with AK sensing weakness. Like I said I prefer checking the turn here. I put opponent on JJ-QQ. Unless he is a total donk why would he call your check-raise with just overcards? |

ATo is a valueless hand especially facing a raise oop. |

Re: how much aggression to show with TPTK
this is small stakes; preflop is bad; flop is bad; you should play limit.

Re: how much aggression to show with TPTK
Preflop -- I had been folding blinds left and right and felt a need to take a stand, even though my hand was not as good as I would have liked.
Flop -- He made a continuation bet. I don't put him on much of anything yet. I think my top pair is likely to be good. This is my standard raise size -- about half the pot. People fold for that plenty of times, though this time he didn't. |

Preflop -- I had been folding blinds left and right and felt a need to take a stand, even though my hand was not as good as I would have liked. [/ QUOTE ] You should have re-raised PF if you were tired of being pushed around. It is just way too likely that you are dominated here. [ QUOTE ] Flop -- He made a continuation bet. People fold for that plenty of times, though this time he didn't. [/ QUOTE ] Check raising the flop just bloats the pot out of position and you have a fairly weak holding. If he is ahead, he is way ahead. If he is behind, he has a lot of outs to improve, and now, you're playing a big pot out of position with no idea what he has, and no way to extract value from a weaker hand. The amount of your check raise makes it even more brutal, since he will fold approximately zero draws. Now, on the turn, you make a weak bet that is likely to signal weakness to the villian, and prompt him to blow you off the best hand, if you do indeed have the best hand. Fold PF. |
