Default Paloalto; bad Radiohead impersonators...

or American pop for the fan who needs a little more than say, Good Charlotte or Maroon 5?

I know only "Breathe In". Those in the know, please speak now...

I've never heard of them. But a lot of very excellent pop music (both American and otherwise) has been released this year, so you do have options beyond Good Charlotte and Maroon 5.

We Are Scientists' "With Love and Squalor" is rocking my body now. Think Bloc Party + Hot Hot Heat + Franz Ferdinand.

Maybe.

I don't know of the band "Paloalto," but Raidohead is my favorite band. However, lots of Radiohead songs have different sounds; it's not like a pop band (ie-Maroon 5) where all the songs sound the same. Is there a particular group of songs that you think they took their ideas from?

Oh come on, those aren't even inaccessible bands. If he was trying to pawn off Chin Up Chin Up on somebody, okay, but BP, HHH, and FF have all had pretty big success playing catchy songs that lots of people can get into. It's sraight up good [censored]' pop music.

mmm, I probably overstated this Radiohead-esque sound, but I meant more of that like, vocally dramatic, guitar-driven, hints of strings & brass brit-pop type sound.

again, the only song with which i'm familiar is "Breathe In"...

It's me actually hating most hipsters that irks me when I (or a friend) get labelled it.

The reason I listen to indie music is that it consistently makes the best pop music out there... I still listen to a bunch of "popular artists" (Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Fiona Apple)...

read Chuck Klosterman's "Sex, Drugs, and CocoaPuffs"
The first chapter goes on and on about Coldplay being a lame imitation of Travis, while Travis was a lame imitation of Radiohead. Thus, Coldplay is a 2nd order lame imitation. Funny stuff.

Paloalto sucks now, but their first album is totally awesome.

Check out the songs:

"Beauty of Disaster"
"The Mayor and the Seizure Pills"
"Sonny"

All are amazing. "Sonny" would have been a #1 MTV smash rock single in an alternate universe where American Records knew how to market product.
