How much $ (UB 10-25 NL)
4-handed. Unknown opponents. Nothing crazy so far. $2600-2700 stacks.
I standard open for $85 w/ QQ. SB folds, BB calls. Flop Q93r He checks, I throw a curveball and check. I bet, I dunno, 90+% of the time here. Just a little change-up. Turn Q938 2 clubs He bets pot $180. I raise pot to $720. He thinks a long time and calls. River Q9383 no flush He checks. How much? |

Re: How much $ (UB 10-25 NL)
i like 800ish
he will call this alot with just a 9, and he probably bets the river out if its a 3 he's got. Although he may convince himself into making a tough call with a 9 for it all given the action. These are hard. |

Re: How much $ (UB 10-25 NL)
Normally I just read these posts, but don't respond since I only play NL400. However, I feel like I could learn something here...so to those who think he should push...
I don't understand what you think Diablo is representing and what you put villian on... I feel like Diablo's line doesn't look that much like a bluff; it doesn't seem like Villan will put him on complete air. Thus, obviously for him to call he must have a hand that he thinks beats Diablo's. But what hand would Diablo play like this that Villian's probable pocket pair or A9 could beat (again I don't play this high, so this hand range could be way off)? So, if you think he should push wouldn't this be based on the frequency he pushes the river? That way Villian could try to assign him a hand range and convince himself to call. Since there's no reads though (or unknown opponents at least) then Villian won't be able to do this and thus, won't have much certainty at all that Diablo's line is a bluff. But if you push for metagame purposes, then I guess I understand... Overall point, since I feel like I'm not being completely clear: It seems to me that Villian can only call here if he thinks Diablo is bluffing, so why do you think the river push best represents this? |

Re: How much $ (UB 10-25 NL)
1/2 the pot or less. You want the opponent to convince himself that the pot odds dictate he call in case he has the best hand with top pair bad kick, JJ/TT or something like A3. If you push, then he either puts you on a monster or a busted draw, but has he seen you make a move on the turn with a draw? You need to make something more here, and the greedier you try to be, the less you will be likely to make.

Re: How much $ (UB 10-25 NL)
I said push because to me, with these stacks, on this board, nearly anything less looks like a pure value bet. Don't forget that a push here is not much more than a pot sized bet anyway - but to me, just enough more, to feel like air. If Diablo bets 1K into this pot, I think villain needs more of a hand to call than he does if Diablo pushes. The key to me is the raise when the second club hits, combined with the check on the flop lends credibility to the "bluff". If Diablo can pull off the "value-bet that looks like a bluff" - 1/2 pot or something then only he knows this due to his experience with Villain.
