AQs gets capped on the flop...
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
MP1 is 92/0/.33 after about 70 hands... Calls down with any piece of the board. I hadn't seen him raise yet. How's my turn and river play here? Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises, MP1 calls, 6 folds. Flop: (5.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero 3-bets, MP1 caps, Hero calls. Turn: (6.75 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, MP1 checks. Re: AQs gets capped on the flop...
The betting on this hand is a little strange. The play on the flop suggests that you be up against a set of 7's or 9's. However, the soft play on the turn looks more like a steaight draw. Since I think one of the sets is likely, I would have checked and called the hand down

Against most players I like the bet call. But 90/0/.33 just get to showdown

I think we should be able to fold to the river raise here.

Re: AQs gets capped on the flop...
Because his hands are likely either:
-Draw (no value in betting if missed, but often players will bet their missed draw here) -2 pair -trips I think the second two are more likely. Even if they have the first, they might have gotten there and trying to let you catch up. They have position on you. I think we can fold to the river raise too if we bet, since I don't like that, I check/call and get value of the hands that don't beat me and lose the least when I'm behind. Plus, many worse pairs will bet. |

Check/call the river.
Since you didn't, I think that you can fold to the raise. |

Re: AQs gets capped on the flop...
Thanks very much,
I think check/call makes the most sense in retrospect. I catch the bluffers get to see the showdown. What hands that are raising do I beat? None. I gotta lay it down if I don't checkcall. psw |
