Am I a son of a Donk or are you my father?
Who’s the donk?
No read on the BB other than he’s most likely your typical low-limit loose passive type. Party Poker Hold'em (6 max, 3 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Preflop: Hero is SB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises, BB calls. Re: Am I a son of a Donk or are you my father?
My bet on the river feels unatural to me. Especially vs. a non aggressive opponent. Is there really that much value in betting into him?

Yes, betting is how you get your hands paid off.

Re: Am I a son of a Donk or are you my father?
This looks ok, but checking the river will induce a weaker hand to bet often, especially if your opponent hasn't seen you do it before. I think it's close enough in this spot that it doesn't make alot of difference.

Checking the river here would be terrible.

Re: Am I a son of a Donk or are you my father?
Just to clarify… my intention was to fold if raised…
I have it ingrained in me that check-call the river here is standard vs. relative unknowns. As I become more comfortable with some of the thin value bets I should be making… I’m still feeling attached to this habit because I always believed there was this spot where value starts to mean less and conservatism (not losing a whole pot) and bluff inducing come into play. Even vs. your most timid opponents. My intention of course was to fold if raised on the end… I guess there is no problem with my play here, except… at what pot size would you say this becomes a check-call rather than a bet-fold? Or if the pot is huge should I still go after the value with the intention of calling a raise? Comments? |

This hand is incredibly boring and standard.

Well you have officially removed all doubt... I am the son of a donk... and you are my father.
