You\'re building an NFL Franchise
Imagine you already have assembled a very capable coaching staff that will work well with any philosophy you want to implement. What position/unit do you make the strength of your team?

Question:
Is one area the 'strength' and the rest horrible? Or the rest average?
If the rest are horrible, I want a good O-line. If the rest are average, I want either strong LBs or QB. Josh |

Quarterback. Look at the way Brett Favre has continually carried very mediocre/bad Packers teams as an example.

Re: You\'re building an NFL Franchise
Five good players on the OL is better than 1 good player at QB. If you talk individual positions, ie. 1 star QB, 1 star RB, 1 star OL, 1 star LB etc., the right choice is a star QB.

Re: You\'re building an NFL Franchise
A good OL can open lanes and pass protect, masking deficiencies elsewhere and make average QBs, RBs, and WRs look better. It's very difficult to make this work the other way around.
It works in similar ways for defense, but I don't think the advantage of beefing up one of the units is nearly as pronounced. Secondary would be my next choice. Or DL. |

Re: You\'re building an NFL Franchise
I go O line. An O line does so much for your offense and defense. I don't think its close either.

Re: You\'re building an NFL Franchise
in the current nfl my vote is oline. #2 is probably dline and #3 secondary.
