PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) converter
SB (t1485) BB (t1420) UTG (t390) Hero (t1470) MP1 (t1460) MP2 (t2030) MP3 (t1350) CO (t2445) Button (t1450) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to t60, 3 folds, CO raises to t160, 3 folds, Hero folds. Final Pot: t250 1st Level 6th hand 1) Fold pre-flop 2) Call raise 3) Fold to raise I guess most people will say fold pre-flop, but I like to play a few more hands than "regulation". I don't like AQo OOP to a raise though... anyone call this? |

Re: $30: AQ pre-flop fold?
What is your plan if you hit your A or Q?
I would definitely fold, and I´m close to a maniac. |

Re: $30: AQ pre-flop fold?
I'm folding, simple reason. Unless I have a read that the re-raiser is a maniac, I'm putting him on the following range:
AA-JJ AK That's it. You're completely dominated by all but one of them. Sure, there are some maniacs out there who will re-raise an EP raiser with less than that (maybe a few times you'll chop with another AQ and an even fewer times you'll be ahead KQs or AJs). But absent reads, I don't think that happens very often. Many times you'll miss the flop and muck it there, after calling off another 100 chips. Some other times you'll hit a Q-high flop and lose all your chips against KK or AA. Some other times you'll hit an A-high flop and lose to a set of something like jacks, queens, kings, or even aces. In short, you're not taking down enough chips when you win, you're going broke when you hit but it's not enough, and you're folding the flop so many times it's unbearable. Save your chips and get back to business next hand. There's a LONG way to go. |

Re: $30: AQ pre-flop fold?
When I play deeper stacks (like stars), I like to raise with AQ i the early levels. I fold it on party though. You have to fold to the reraise.

Re: $30: AQ pre-flop fold?
Good fold. More starting chips doesn't mean looser play. It means you have more opportunity to out play. This is NOT one of them.

Fold. Fold. Fold.
This should be nearly automatic. |

Fold. Fold. Fold. This should be nearly automatic. [/ QUOTE ] PS I prefer a limp preflop here to a raise. |

Re: $30: AQ pre-flop fold?
Depending on how agressive preflop people at the table have been putting in, I'll fold this off the bat many times in the first level or two in EP. I really don't think AQ can stand up to a raise at all with a full table and lots left to go in the tournament. You'll get better spots somewhere along the line IMO.
