Hachem really missed out
He would have gotten a big promotion contract if he had won his seat online instead of buying in directly.

Re: Hachem really missed out
In an interview he wrote that he mostly played on PokerStars, they may be trying to finagle the situation so that he can sponsor them.

Re: Hachem really missed out
What gives you the idea that you have to win a seat online to score an endorsement contract with an online poker website? Both Josh Arieh and David Williams have sponsorship deals with Bodog, and, as far as I know, neither were associated with the website when they made their high-profile scores. If anything, being a free agent is probably advantageous to Hachem.
Personally, I wouldn't have too much interest in endorsing an online poker site if I had just won 7.5M, anyway. |

He can't appear in a commercial saying he tweaks his game playing on their play money site and you should too. How many commmercials have you seen Varkonyi or Furlong in? |

Re: Hachem really missed out
During the Orleans Open this year I asked Rich Corbin if Hachem won his seat thru stars. He shook his head, looked down, and said, "No but I wish he did".
It is the pokersites that have missed out. Once his victory has been played out on ESPN several times, Hachem will have the leverage to pick any site he wants to endorse. The main thing he must not do now is to say bad things about any pokersite or downplay the importance of internet poker in general. Doing so would make him appear hypocritical if he suddenly endorses one in the future. A pokersite endorsed by Hachem would probably be able to expand huge in the Pacific Rim (he is Australian) and probably in the middle east where his parents originally were from. Maybe UK and South Africa as well. |
