Re: Party is brilliant
Some of the BJ players (and flop side-bet players) will get lucky sometimes and make a little profit.
They'll get cocky and then take it to the poker-tables and play above the limit they might normally play. "I've won big at the side-bet thing. Let's try to double-up again at 15/30." (something like that anyway). I think we see players like this all the time at Pacific...as well as at sports-betting sites like Bodog (not sure about Paradise). I would play on Bodog with some guy who would brag about having won '2 dimes' on Duke or Syracuse or whoever....then play like an idiot at the poker-table...and then say he was off to go bet another basketball game and would bring it back to the poker-table after the game. Obviously if he loses the sports-bet then his chances of retruning to play poker are not very high. But when guys like this win they sometimes will tend to play like maniacs. I'm not convinced that the BJ tables on party (nor the side-bet) are bad things. I don't know if they'll be as good as I'm hoping either (there is concern that the fish will just bust-out faster of course). I really don't know either way but can see some possibilities. There are plenty of crappy EV games and sports-betting opportunities in live casinos too...and it doesn't seem like it's TOO detrimental for live poker. (then again, California poker....without as many other gambling options...is known to be VERY loose...while Vegas poker might be a little bit tighter) |

Re: Party is brilliant
The hope is that party starts advertising their blackjack games and brings in lots of clueless gamblers, who see no difference between sitting at a blackjack table and hoping to get lucky and sitting at a poker table and hoping for luck.

Party is retraded
The avg pro/semipro puts in 30k hands/month. Thats much more than the avg fish puts in. Party gets paid by the # of hands played and not by skill level of the player. If these pros/semipros go elsewhere, thats a lot of lost $$ for party. I hope they can see this

Re: Party is brilliant
I'm not dependant on it but the extra $24,000 a year sure comes in handy. I'll manage without it of course. There are other networks with just as bad of players. Why is it that players like yourself must feel the need to make a topic with the sole purpose of being an [censored]?

Re: Party is brilliant
So sad you lost your $24,000 income. Now maybe some of that money will come to me. Rakeback should've never existed - it was WRONG. Now that players are flooding in on their own, no need to pay you forever, is there? Now that the playing field is level, you whine?
And why does everyone assume that blackjack will suck the money out of poker and not vice versa? |

To those saying he is wrong, you don't know what you are talking about. If party starts actively seeking out the gamblers the tables will be looser than ever. Just look at all the poker rooms that were added to pure gambling or sports betting sites and compare the fishiness. Pacific is my favorite place to play because of this even with their 1 table at a time an horrible software. [/ QUOTE ] I have to concur. I think a lot of the alternative sites make their niche by providing other games. Those who want to play BJ aren't out there blowing their money on poker. But, those who do play BJ, may be interested in a SNG or other poker game as a respit from their normal BJ grind. |

By definition, a pro takes $ from the system, he does not add it. |
