AKo - Call a turn raise and fold to river bet
Live at the Mecca, 9/18 nine-handed. Table is typical loose with minor bursts of aggression. Two limpers to me in BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]:K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], I check. Four to the flop.
FLOP: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Checked around. Still four players. TURN: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB (loosey-goosey) checks, I bet, EP limper (tight by Commerce standards) calls, LP limper (loosest player in the free world) calls. SB now check-raises. I call as do the others. Four to the river. RIVER: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB bets. I fold... All comments welcomed. |

Easy Raise PF for value since AKo is very often ahead oh their holdings. I think your fold is bad especially if you don't have a read on SB that says he's a rock.

Re: AKo - Call a turn raise and fold to river bet
I think calling the turn check raise and folding the river is bad. Unless you have a read on the two players behind suggesting one of them might raise the river.
Loosey goosey prolly has two-pair with an ace. I think all other streets (pre-flop and flop) are fine as a variation play. You give away too much information is you ALWAYS raise from the big blind with AK or better. But as you know, I SUCK. So all bets are off on my take on the situation being correct. -DP |

Read on SB? [/ QUOTE ]He's very much your typical desired opponent. Plays many hands with a strong inclination to tilt (by way of pf raises to "get back" last hand lost). He was currently tilting. |

Re: AKo - Call a turn raise and fold to river bet
Why call the turn raise at all if you are going to fold to a card on the river that could not help anyone? I think I hate that fold.
I can't see you being behind here very often, unless SB has some raggedy 2 pair, or a crappy straight. Granted the C/R on the turn is defintely a concern, but it is coming from a loose player who in all likelihood is doing it with a worse ace. I think I might be raising him back and most certainly be seeing the showdown regardless of what he does. Also - I have to throw in - why are we not raising AK preflop? |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, what hands are you scared of? A tilting villain would bet out with a pair on the flop/overplay his hand on the turn. |

Also - I have to throw in - why are we not raising AK preflop? [/ QUOTE ]Although it is not the focus of my post, I figured that this might bring up some debate. I normally do so with AKo and two opponents, and will be optional with more players. I simply chose not to. My intention was to see how others would handle the turn, as I feel that most players would be overaggressive with this hand. Wouldn't SB bet out rather than wait for a check-raise if I am still ahead? Granted, I stated that he was on tilt, but his "tilt" play normally resides preflop. Postflop he's a typical loose player. |
