Re: Melting Pot Trip Report
[ QUOTE ]
i didnt mind the time factor because the conversation was good and everything, but it probably woulndt be a good idea to go there as a first date cuz you are stuck there for a while if things go bad from the start. [/ QUOTE ] Heh. We were joking last night what a nightmare it would be on a first date. "Let's see...I have made 50 skewer jokes now....what next?" |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I've heard its expensive....how much we talkin here? [/ QUOTE ] Just a guess: 117.73 [/ QUOTE ] Kreskin-like powers! That was for the $40 per person 'Banquet', with a $10 cocktail and an 18% gratuity. You can also order stuff off the menu ala carte, I am guessing. [/ QUOTE ] I went to the one in Seattle about a year ago feel the same way about it as you/astro. If i really want fondue i'd rather go to the rheinlander in portland and have the swiss cheese fondue and finish with a great dinner. The melting pot just isn't a good value. |

Heh. We were joking last night what a nightmare it would be on a first date. [/ QUOTE ] Well, that depends on how good you are at conversation and how well you two hit it off. I took a girl on a first date there, and it went great. She was blown away by how nice the restaurant was, and was impressed with how the date went. I think if you're really interested in a girl and don't need a "feel it out" date, it's a GREAT choice for a first date. |

Re: Melting Pot Trip Report
i don't get bothered by price as much as the value-to-price ratio. applebee's and olive garden are horrendous in this regard, for example, because i can pay less money for WAY better stuff like fajitas somewhere else or pay like 10% more for one of the best local italian places in town. melting pot costs a lot and doesn't pay off in taste, it's "the experience" (which gets really old by your second trip) that you're buying. the same money can buy way better food at some other nice restaurant.

The Cheese and desserts are great, but I'm just not a fan of boiled meat.

Re: Melting Pot Trip Report
jeez people its not THAT expensive...u can take someone out to eat there reasonably and its a neat resturant with decent food and a unique experience...of course its not gonna cost what mcdonalds does...but then agian lets hope u dont take people u care about on dates there
expensive is when it starts getting to like 200+ a person...maybe my view is skewed... |

Re: Melting Pot Trip Report
The Fiesta Cheese fondue is the hidden trasure there. You can get extra chips, bread, etc... too when you get this if you ask.
