($55) 3 way, steep blinds, weird spot
This sng took awhile so the blinds are mighty steep. Multi tabling, so no reads... I've never posted a thread before and this seemed like an awkward situation.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (3 handed) converter BB (t5892) Button (t1774) Hero (t5834) Preflop: Hero is SB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Button calls t800, Hero ??? I'll post my thoughts/results later I guess, either to bump the thread or respond to others. |

Any reason not to fold?

Re: ($55) 3 way, steep blinds, weird spot
What if you were guaranteed that if you pushed, the BB would fold and the button would call? You would have a chance to win a 4398 chip pot by only investing 1324 more chips. About 7:3 pot odds... better than even the 2:1 auto call situations.

Re: ($55) 3 way, steep blinds, weird spot
I'm not sure what SNG poker tracker says. And by the way I think with Eastbay's new version (1.19) you could create this scenario by creating a specific tourney. I'll try it tomorrow. But given this scenario, I think it invites a call because you could knock him out in 3rd spot. But that's just a guess.

Re: ($55) 3 way, steep blinds, weird spot
Well anyway, I guess I hinted at it already, but I decided to push. It was a snap decision, and I posted this to see if I might be convinced otherwise... After thinking about it more I still agree with my initial choice, despite some counter intuitive feeling to it.
My process was basically just 1) I think the button is limping any two 2) QT is great vs random hand allin pf, especially with these odds 3) Why let the BB join the fun by limping? 4) Impossible to isolate without committing myself... 5) Push I think BB will fold a lot of marginally strong hands. The main fear is of course that BB calls with monster, button actually folds, I go out in 3rd. Considering how unlikely (although significant) that may be, I still vote push. |

my default play is to limp here. Folding here would be horrible.
