Re: Play Poker on a Work Computer?
If they ask you why you were play poker on the company computer, just tell them you didn't want to run up the company credit card for entertainment expenses during down time. You realize that the company is running a little tight right now, so you thought that you would do your part to keep spending limited.

[ QUOTE ]
If you want to be 100 percent sure and safe why donīt you buy yourself your on lap top and take it with you. Even if the risks are very slim that your company will be monitoring your internet connection I wouldnīt take chances. Tess [/ QUOTE ] Actually, wouldn't it better bet to just buy a portable hard drive, and install the program on there? A techie can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but if you install the program to and ran the program off of that hard drive, all but the most hurclean efforts to detect your activity (off the office network of course) would fail. Plus, at the end of the day you have a nifty way to transfer data around and are only out like a hundred bucks. [the ultra paranoid might install a new instance of windows on the new hard drive and run pp off of that version] |

Re: Play Poker on a Work Computer?
Most companies would be fine w/ you playing on the road. Hopefully your boss understands what it's like to travel all the time, stuck in some dumpy hotel eating free food (if you have an expense account). I don't entirely miss those days....you don't have to tell them you're gambling either. As far as they know you're just playing in the play money area. I mean you have to do SOMETHING to pass the time. I'd just ask if you could install games to play while you're on the road.

Re: Play Poker on a Work Computer?
as long as the company doesn't prohibit a private use of the laptop I don't see any problem.
and as otter said: you are only playing play money |

Re: Play Poker on a Work Computer?
These things generally fall under don't ask don't tell. The company will frown upon you for having it there BUT they won't fire you or anything of the sort. If you need your machine fixed, they may be kind enough to remove it for you. Unless of course you did sign anything stating that things of this sort are a fireable offense they have nothing on you. Now of course anything which is illegal is completely different. ie: kiddie porn.

Re: Play Poker on a Work Computer?
I use my work computer and they don't care. Of course, I don't play at work, but they knew from the opening job interview that I had, at one time, been a professional player. They don't look at me as a degenerate gambler in that way.
