Football game on during poker tournament?
Having a Friday night, all day Saturday poker tournament this weekend. It's semi-serious...some folks want to win, others are just there for fun.
Do you find people object to having sports on the TV in the background? Or is music just a better option? |

Re: Football game on during poker tournament?
we always have it on....
our game is 'friendly' but im very competitive by nature. When the TV is on, its ok for me.. but what bothers me is when people pay attention to the TV and not the game. We have to constantly remind people who its on, what the action was, blah blah blah... and it gets on my nerves. To top it off, chatter and volume increase when a game is on, and that give me headaches and I cant concentrate as well. However, I just deal with it because most people enjoy watching TV.. and since it is friendly, I dont object. I just make sure to bring the Excederine |

I don't object, as long as it isn't too loud. As long as it's not blasting, I don't expect you'll get complaints. And if you do, you can easily turn it down/off.

How could you not have the TV on during college football season? Seriously. BTW, you can get some action on the games too.

we'll have one on, but volume OFF. Otherwise, too hard to talk over, and the people who want to talk get louder, and people who want to watch game turn the tv up, in a vicious cycle of non-pokeric activity.

TV on, always. I have two TVs so everybody can see one. Keeps people there longer.

[/ QUOTE ] I personally found it really annoying when I played with my friends and they had the game on....it slows down the poker since people will stop playing to watch the game. |

Re: Football game on during poker tournament?
I like having the game on. Usually people don't get too distracted, it's good background material, and often external excitement promotes a good (profitable) gambling atmosphere.
