who
Who's the fukcing closer? Francona brings Foulke in in the 7th but relieves him with Timlin who serves one up. Yeah I pissed about the dinger but what's the thought process here?
I thought Timlin was the closer now. Bring him in in the 7th? I don't get it. |

[/ QUOTE ] outs in the 7th are quite often more important than outs in the 9th. the 'tradtional' way bullpens are used is not the most efficient way. |

Re: who
I think that was due to the quality of the pitchers rather than the system itself.

if they had mariano rivera they should have brought him in there. [/ QUOTE ] I agree in the abstract. But it will be interesting to see how this move is taken in the clubhouse and the media, especially since it backfired. People in Boston, and maybe on the team as well, are pretty attached to the idea of a closer. I do wonder if this is going to be the strategy for bullpen use in the playoffs if we make it there. |

Re: who
I'm looking at the box score. wow.
the sox are 2 strong relief pitchers short (if schilling is 85%+) of being the best team by a mile. as it stands, theyre not much better than any of the AL playoff hopefuls. |
