2 Gappers
I kind of have this beginners rule in my head that hands like KQ98 and 8743 are unplayable because of the two card gaps.
Of course I am calling in late position, and completing the small blind. What about early pos and middle position? I folded KQ98 in early position the other night and wondered if I had made the right play. |

Re: 2 Gappers
Yeah, not something I like to play unless I'm in a raised pot with position and they are double suited.

Re: 2 Gappers
passing on two-gappers from EP/MP = never getting to check-raise 20-out straight draws = no fun

Re: 2 Gappers
Comparing JT76 with JT94: (please correct if wrong)
They make about the same number of str8s JT94 makes a few more 9 and 8 way SDs(fwiw) JT76 has a 20 way SD (14 nut outs) This occurs 2% of time, of which 1/5 boards are paired or monotone. JT94 has 2 13 way SDs (13 and 7 nut outs). JT76 is more likely to make you a hand that you can post on the forum and make everyone jealous of your genius. Should JT94 be played? You're mistaking me for someone who knows anything. However, I am beginning to think that suitedness is what gives most straightening hands any real value. James |

Re: 2 Gappers
There is a big difference, the 4 in JT9 for is completely useless.
