People love moneymaker cause hes just some jerk who won millions at poker. [/ QUOTE ] But has anything like this happened to Rick? He's not a "TV pro," so I wonder if people will care. Again, I'm not rooting against him, I just wonder what this publisher is thinking. |

I agree. He needs to have some type of major accomplishment like "How I won $1,000,000 from internet poker" or "How I live the 1.4 lifestyle from playing poker".

Books about people generally sell (if they sell at all) because the person is known for something. However, I could see this book selling if there were some kind of TV special to go along with it. I enjoy the Discovery documentaries about the casino cheaters and could see a book about one of those characters doing OK. |

Despite pokers recent huge boom, this section is still relatively small. I think that if the book is there, people will buy it. especially if its a story about great success in online poker (not millions, but easy money). |

Kind of reminds me of that book "Poker Nation" by Andy Bellin, who seems to be some sort of underground pro. He's not known in the tv or interent poker world but I think his book sold some copies. It was kind of a mix of some basic strategy with a few tales of his experiences in underground cardrooms mixed in. A pretty good light read for any poker fan.

...took them to his friend that worked for a publisher who will remain unnamed until I have there permission to post it here. [/ QUOTE ] If it's a publisher we've heard of, congratulations and good luck. If it's not, then you should know that publishers pay authors. Authors never pay publishers. If these guys ask you for one cent, run like hell. |
