Re: A few questions on live play in Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
Typical flop bets were $100. Typical pre-flop raises were $15. If you start with $200, you're in all-in mode after you see three flops. [/ QUOTE ] You can't mean the 1-2 game here...most of the ones I've seen at the Taj people wouldn't dream of betting $100 on a flop. $15, $25, maybe $30 or $40 if the table's really loose. But a $100 bet is just going to win the pre-flop betting (or get crushed by someone with a monster). |

[ QUOTE ] Just a word of warning, the Taj is the only room I've ever been carded at in AC. The last time I was there they carded almost everyone at the podium that looked under 30. [/ QUOTE ] A few people in the Small stakes NL forum said the opposite, claiming that the Taj is the most lax when it comes to carding. Hopefully they're correct and I'll get by without being noticed. [/ QUOTE ] The Taj is anything but lax. I've seen numerous underage players carded and escorted out. |

Re: A few questions on live play in Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, assuming I don't get carded and do get seated, is there a chance they card me when I'm cashing out? If yes, will they take everything or can I convince them to give me back my initial funds? [/ QUOTE ] Since you are going with friends who are of proper age, there is no reason for you to be cashing out your own chips at any time. Have your friends cash you out. And no, you will not get back your initial funds, they will take everything and throw you out. |

Re: A few questions on live play in Atlantic City
Re: pot size. The dealers should not tell you how much is in the pot in a no-limit game. In a POT-limit game, they will. You also can't say "I bet the pot" in a no-limit game and have it be binding as it is the players' responsibility to keep track of that information and, if you're going to verbalize your bets, you need to verbalize the amount.
Players new to live no-limit play will often accidentally string bet because they don't pick up enough chips before moving the bet forward. Either verbalize the amount you want to bet or make sure you've got enough chips in hand to make it. It can be annoying and frustrating to lose value over a silly thing like only picking up 8 chips when you needed 12 to make the bet you wanted to make so keep it in mind. Good luck. |

If the most common thing to happen when carded is being escorted out, then it's fine. I just don't want to be carded AFTER I've bought-in and have my funds confiscated. |

Re: A few questions on live play in Atlantic City
Not that I condone this, but also have one of your friends put you on the waiting list. That way you just show up at the table. The assumption will be that you were carded at the podium.
Should you, or any member of your force, be caught, or killed, the secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds. |

Re: A few questions on live play in Atlantic City
Don't bother trying to check out the Borgata. The staff there is pretty serious about carding people. I'm 24 but I look young, and I get carded nearly every 50 feet in that place.
Take a shot at the trop, the place gets really chaotic on the weekends and i'm sure you'll have no problem getting in and out. |

Let us know what charges they bring on you. Ive always been curious if they were bluffing when they say theyll prosecute underage gamblers to the full extent of the law.
