Playing a Set ??
When playing a small set from early position is it usually a good tactic to just call a bet on the flop waiting to c/r the turn? Or should I have raised the flop?
On the turn, I called since I thought I was facing a flush from UTG+1 or, less likely, a larger set. But I called 2 bets since I thought I had odds to boat up. In retrospect I think I should have folded the turn since I barely have odds to call if I have 10 outs. And if I am facing 2 pair in addition to a flush or bigger set, then I really only have 4 outs max. It was wierd that neither player bet the river - results to follow. Thanks in advance for advice. Re: Playing a Set ??
I would checkraise the flop. Probably you have the best hand and the best draw.
Leading is another option. If UTG raises, that could have the benefit of (possibly) pushing UTG+1 off of a gutshot, if that's what he has, and at least increasing your chances of winning. Anyway, though, as played, on the turn, I couldn't find a fold. |
