Losing $1.1k on One Pair Hands
I win with all other final hands according to PT except one pair hands over 15k hands, which I have lost $1109. It is obvious I am overplaying/misplaying these hands terribly. I have a hard time differentiating between value betting these hands agianst a lower kicker and getting screwed over by a bigger hand. How do you guys deal with these hands? Play em strong then drop them to any resistance? Please help me plug this horrible leak. I will try to post some hands but any general or sitiuational advice would be greatly appreciated. Some PT stats on One pair. total times: 5617, saw flop: 1736, folded flop 554, folded turn: 256, folded river: 147, went to SD:289, won $ hands: 609, won money at SD: 40%, % of total hands 43. I know 15k is a small sample but I need to stop the bleeding now.

Re: Losing $1.1k on One Pair Hands
what levels?
in 100 and 200nl through 15000 hands i am losing 1500 with one pair hands. When compared to just my high card hands i've lost 1600. Thats only a difference of 100, which is pretty piss poor. and i've only won $36 with 2 pair-they always seem to get busted. my 1 pair stats are (in same order) total-4403 saw flop-1104 fold flop-91 fold turn-49 fold river-31 showdown-169 winning %- 52 total %-14.6 |

Re: Losing $1.1k on One Pair Hands
shouldn't you be losing with one pair? it would seem to me that would include all the times you call a pfr with a small pair and miss your set and fold, or semi-bluff a pair and a flush draw and miss etc. i just think its a misleading stat. please correct me if i misunderstood something.

Fold one pair to a raise. Always. Problem solved. You don't tell us what games you play in, though, which would be very helpful for giving you some more in-depth comments.

Re: Losing $1.1k on One Pair Hands
My general rule is this: If my pair is lower then the highest card on the flop its a fold. Unless I have reason to believe a bet here will take down the pot. Or I flopped trips.
22-TT (and JJ often) is a 'no set, no bet' type hand most of the time. |

Re: Losing $1.1k on One Pair Hands
Are these numbers taken with "show only hands not folded" checked? It looks like you are looking at all hands, whether you folded or not.
This stat is pretty meaningless, since this loss includes all your little losses from hands where you missed the flop and folded, but would have caught a pair on the turn or river, or the board paired. It also includes losses from folded SB and BB, and all preflop limp-fold hands that would have gone on to finish with one pair. Look at the "show only when not folded" stats. These should always be positive. Even the 40% won at showdown may be OK - if a lot of these hands are multiway and you are contributing far less than 50% of the pot, then this 40%W$SD figure may well be optimal. |
