Why the 2001FP over a 19\'\' CRT?
I'm going to buy a new monitor for multi-tabling. A 19'' CRT@1600x1200 is $250, and the 2001FP is $700. Is it worth the extra $? Why?

Yea, you should be able to find a dell coupon or deal to use to get your 2001FP to about $500 (probably even less). The ONLY semi-plausible reason you'd go with a CRT insead of the 2001FP is that the couple hundred bucks more you would spend on the 2001FP are THAT important to you. That is the ONLY possible reason.

How is the LCD better? [/ QUOTE ] - Super razor-sharp text, at 1600x1200. Most CRTs at that resolution are a little on the fuzzy side, especially the cheaper ones. - No flicker whatsoever. This, combined with the first point, means you can stare at your monitor for hours with absolutely no eye strain. It's like reading off a very well lit piece of paper. - Thin and lightweight. Believe me, lug a 20" or 21" monitor around a couple times, and that alone will be worth the money. - CRTs put out radiation, the long-term effects of which are still uncertain. - Somewhat less power consumption. Although the 2001 is a bit power-hungry, so it doesn't save you all that much on the power bill vs. CRT. - They just look cool! There are probably other advantages I'm missing. -- Kevin |

[/ QUOTE ] The only way to really convince you of this would be to sit you down in front of a 2001FP and a 19" CRT. They are light-years apart. I have a really nice viewsonic 19" CRT next to my 2001FP's now, and it really looks terrible in comparison. |

yeapretty much everything kross said. Also one thing I love about the 2001FP is you can rotate it easily (making it 'tall'), so that when you're writing a paper or something, you can see the entire page really easily. I love that feature.

First, the 2001fp is not 700 unless you're a prag. wait for the right time use a coupon, keep it in the low 5s.
Second it's way more pimp. |
